Well, here I am. Another Cohost refugee.

I'm honestly not sure what to make of all this. I didn't have any online presence until the late 2000s or early 2010s. I wasn't that social or outgoing either so I straight up didn't know places like this existed. And I honestly don't want to know how different my life would've been if I had (but it probably would've been better to get that exposure to new concepts and ideas earlier).

I'm... Not sure what to post. Maybe if I actually get some writing done and I can figure out this site I can be more active on here. Still got a couple weeks of Cohost left though, so I doubt I'll be very active here. But that also means a little time to figure this out before I don't have much of an alternative. I don't mean to imply that this site is bad. I just don't take change very well and this is *a ton of change*.

I'm trying to stay optimistic, but... With things how they've been lately, pessimism is what keeps winning. I'll try to stay hopeful for this change. If I can manage to get the brain power and attention span to actually learn this site, I'd like to try to interact more. Tight budgeting really limits my ability to go out and be among people irl. That and COVID, of course. Don't get me started on that can of worms...

Idk. I'll
see if I can do better here. At the very least some of the people I liked from Cohost seem to be coming over. That'll help with the whole interacting with people thing.

If you're new here from Cohost, then you might like [community profile] newcomers which is covering the shutdown and providing resources about Dreamwidth. You can introduce yourself in the Friending Meme or find your Cohost friends if you wish. These are also resources you can share with other folks riding the wave from Cohost.

Consider Recurring Posts. They help pin down the main topic(s) of your blog and keep it active.

Change can really suck, especially when people take away something you love. There's a mourning post up. Give yourself some space to feel what you feel, and don't push too hard.

When you're ready, look around. Dreamwidth is a pretty cool platform with lots of interesting things to do.
